Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman - stoned? Or is it just a virus?

Joaquin Phoenix puts in a TRULY bizarre performance on The Late Show with David Letterman.
 
 
It's the point when he starts describing (I say, describing, it's not really fair to call it that) his plans for a hip hop career, that it really starts to get surreal. Then the gum...
 
But, here's the thing... The web - the web and the viral video thing... It's getting hard to tell when these actorly wig-outs, be they outbursts like Christian Bale's recent F-fest or Joaquin Phoenix's here-seen... what? Inburst...? It's getting hard to tell what's real and what's maybe put on to garner this kind of blog coverage, the news-clips, the CBS video viral, the Tweets, the tweets, the tweets... Is it all just marketing for the movie? In Joaquin's case Two Lovers a movie people otherwise had little reason to get excited about?
 
Am I grown too old and cynical for this web lark?
 
Anyway, there you have it - I've walked eyes-wide-open into their fiendish trap. I'm blogging about the monosyllabic mumblings of Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman. Well played, Phoenix. Well played.

Christian Bale goes Bananas - then gets remixed with Streisand

It's Empire of the Son of a Bitch. Christian Bale recently went completely tonto on the set of Terminator Salvation (Doom of a Franchise) and delivered a payload of furious filth into the face of Director of Photography Shane Hurlbut for the heinous crime of wandering around set checking the lights during a scene. In the audio YouTube clip below, we pick up the story shortly after Mr Bale has been interrupted mid-scene. Presumably distressed that his empathetic and emotionally charged green screen moment with a CGI Terminator has been RUINED, he's downed his actorly tools and decided to throw every hissy fit trick in the Alexander Technique book at this poor lumbering lighting bastard who dared to exist near his performance:
 
 
Can you hear the way his accent drifts in and out of American Psycho and UK yob? He's so incensed he's losing the Method in his madness!
